Bartending Classes St. James Process

Simple Process, Proven Results

Your training starts with the fundamentals—proper pouring techniques, glass selection, and classic cocktail recipes. You’ll work with real bar equipment from day one, not watch someone else demonstrate.

Next, we cover the business side. Cash handling, POS systems, inventory management, and customer service skills that separate good bartenders from great ones. You’ll also complete your New York State A.T.A.P. certification and responsible alcohol service training.

The final phase focuses on job readiness. Resume building, interview preparation, and direct introductions to our network of hiring partners. Our 24/7 alumni job portal keeps opportunities coming long after you graduate. Most students start working within days of completing the program.

How long does it take to complete bartending school?

Our signature program takes just five days of full-time training to complete. You’ll spend 40 hours learning everything from basic drink recipes to advanced bar management techniques. If you can’t commit to five consecutive days, we offer a condensed one-day intensive course. While shorter, it covers the essential skills and certifications you need to start working immediately. Both programs include the same New York State certifications and job placement assistance. The five-day program provides more hands-on practice and includes lifetime refresher courses at no additional cost.
Job placement is built into every program. We maintain relationships with restaurants, bars, and event venues throughout Long Island who regularly hire our graduates. You’ll have access to our 24/7 alumni job portal, which posts new opportunities daily. Our career counselors also provide resume review, interview preparation, and direct introductions to hiring managers. Most students receive job offers within the first week after graduation. We track our placement rates because your success is how we measure ours. If you’re willing to work, we’ll help you find the right opportunity.
Every student receives New York State A.T.A.P. certification, which is required for anyone serving alcohol in New York. You’ll also complete TIPS training for responsible alcohol service and Alcohol Beverage Control Law education. These aren’t just certificates—they’re credentials that employers recognize and often require. Many establishments won’t hire bartenders without proper certification, especially in Nassau and Suffolk counties where regulations are strictly enforced. All certifications are included in your tuition. You won’t pay extra fees or surprise costs for the credentials you need to work legally in New York.
Absolutely. Most of our students start with zero bartending experience. Our curriculum is designed to take complete beginners and turn them into confident, capable bartenders in one week. We start with the basics—how to hold a shaker, proper pouring techniques, and essential cocktail recipes. Every skill builds on the previous one, so you’re never overwhelmed or left behind. Your instructors have decades of real bar experience. They understand what it’s like to start from scratch and know exactly how to teach the skills that matter most. By the end of the program, you’ll have the confidence to work any shift.
Bartender earnings vary significantly based on location, venue type, and skill level. In the Long Island area, experienced bartenders typically earn $15-25 per hour plus tips, which can double or triple your hourly income. High-end restaurants and busy nightlife venues often generate $200-400 in tips per shift for skilled bartenders. Summer establishments in the Hamptons and popular Nassau County venues can be even more lucrative. Your earning potential grows with experience and skill. Bartenders who understand wine service, craft cocktails, and bar management often advance to head bartender or bar manager positions, earning $50,000-70,000 annually or more.
Online courses can’t teach you to use a soda gun, handle a busy rush, or deal with difficult customers. Bartending is a hands-on skill that requires real practice with actual equipment. Our students work behind full bar setups with professional-grade tools. You’ll learn to multitask under pressure, handle cash transactions, and manage inventory—skills that only come from repetitive practice in a realistic environment. We also provide job placement assistance and industry connections that online programs simply can’t offer. When you graduate, you’re not just certified—you’re connected to employers who trust our training and actively hire our students.
